Surah Name: Al-M'arij Meaning: The Ascending Steps
سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ Saala sailun biAAathabin waqiAA(in) A questioner has questioned about chastisement about to befall. (70:1) |
لِّلْكَافِرينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAA(un) Upon the infidels which is not to be averted. (70:2) |
مِّنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ Mina Allahi thee almaAAarij(i) From Allah-SWT , Owner of the ascending steps. (70:3) |
تَعْرُجُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ TaAAruju almalaikatu wa(al)rroohu ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfa sana(tin) Thereby the angels ascend to Him-SWT and also the Spirit; on a Day whose space is fifty thousand years. (70:4) |
Fa(i)sbir sabran jameela(n) Be you patient with a becoming patience. (70:5) |
Innahum yarawnahu baAAeeda(n) Verily they see it afar off. (70:6) |
Wanarahu qareeba(n) And We-SWT see it near. (70:7) |
يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاء كَالْمُهْلِ Yawma takoonu a(l)ssamao ka(a)lmuhl(i) It shall befall on a Day whereon the sky will become like dregs of oil. (70:8) |
وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ Watakoonu aljibalu ka(a)lAAihn(i) And the mountains will become like dyed wool. (70:9) |
وَلَا يَسْأَلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا Wala yasalu hameemun hameema(n) And not a friend shall ask a friend. (70:10) |
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ يَوَدُّ الْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِي مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍ بِبَنِيهِ Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmiithin bibaneeh(i) Though they shall be made to see one another. The guilty would like to ransom himself from the torment of that Day by his children. (70:11) |
Wasahibatihi waakheeh(i) And his wife and his brother. (70:12) |
وَفَصِيلَتِهِ الَّتِي تُؤْويهِ Wafaseelatihi allatee tuweeh(i) And his kin that sheltered him. (70:13) |
وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ Waman fee alardi jameeAAan thumma yunjeeh(i) And all those on the earth; so that this might deliver him. (70:14) |
Kalla innaha latha By no means! It is a Flame. (70:15) |
NazzaAAatan li(l)shshawa Flying off the scalp-skin. (70:16) |
تَدْعُو مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى TadAAoo man adbara watawalla It shall call him who turns away and backslides. (70:17) |
WajamaAAa faawAAa And amasses and hoards. (70:18) |
إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا Inna alinsana khuliqa halooAAa(n) Verily man is formed impatient. (70:19) |
إِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ جَزُوعًا Itha massahu a(l)shsharru jazooAAa(n) Bewailing when evil touches him. (70:20) |
وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا Waitha massahu alkhayru manooAAa(n) And begrudging, when good visits him. (70:21) |
Illa almusalleen(a) Not so are the prayerful. (70:22) |
الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ Allatheena hum AAala salatihim daimoon(a) Who are constant at their Salat. (70:23) |
وَالَّذِينَ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ مَّعْلُومٌ Wa(a)llatheena fee amwalihim haqqun maAAloom(un) And in whose riches is a recognized right. (70:24) |
Li(l)ssaili wa(a)lmahroom(i) For the beggar and the destitute. (70:25) |
وَالَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ Wa(a)llatheena yusaddiqoona biyawmi a(l)ddeen(i) And who testify to the Day of Requital. (70:26) |
وَالَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ Wa(a)llatheena hum min AAathabi rabbihim mushfiqoon(a) And who are fearful of their Rabb-SWT's torment. (70:27) |
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍ Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru mamoon(in) Verily from the torment of their Rabb-SWT none can feel secure. (70:28) |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَافِظُونَ Wa(a)llatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoon(a) As also those who guard their private parts. (70:29) |
إِلَّا عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeen(a) Save in regard to their women and those whom their right hands own. So they are not reproachable. (70:30) |
فَمَنِ ابْتَغَى وَرَاء ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْعَادُونَ Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoon(a) And whoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are the trespassers. (70:31) |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَاعُونَ Wa(a)llatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoon(a) As also those who keep their trusts and their covenant. (70:32) |
وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ قَائِمُونَ Wa(a)llatheena hum bishahadatihim qaimoon(a) And who stand firm in their testimonies. (70:33) |
وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ Wa(a)llatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoon(a) And who are observant of their Salat. (70:34) |
أُوْلَئِكَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ مُّكْرَمُونَ Olaika fee jannatin mukramoon(a) Honoured, they shall dwell in Gardens. (70:35) |
